Care Homes of Hope started in our schools. When One Spark speaks in a school, we find kids who volunteer to come with us into the care homes — and what they do in there is beautiful. They paint the residents’ nails. They do their hair. They play games with them, all sorts of video games. But what they’re really doing is infusing every person in that care home with love. An estimated 60% of people in care homes are never visited by anybody — never seen by anybody. These kids, and every adult volunteer beside them, make a massive difference in the life of somebody who feels trapped in a care home, somebody who never gets any love.
Every visit, every resident gets a shirt and a gift, snacks picked with their dietary needs in mind, and a roomful of people who are glad to be there.
The amounts are only suggestions — never a minimum. If you have $5, give $5 — it will be put with somebody else’s spark, and together it gets the job done.
Every dollar given here stays in the Care Homes of Hope bucket at One Spark Foundation. One Spark has no paid employees — 100% of the money goes to the cause. One Spark Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 27-1799429, and your gift is tax-deductible.
With gratitude, from the One Spark team
Care Homes of Hope started 20 years ago inside our School Sparks talks. When One Spark speaks in a school, we find kids who volunteer to come with us into the care homes — they paint nails, do hair, play games and video games, and pour love into people they now call Grandma or Grandpa. Every resident gets a shirt and a gift, snacks after a dietary check, and a handmade cheer card. About 60% of care-home residents never get visitors. A visit costs about $1,500 all-in.
It doesn’t pay for any salaries. No paid employees. 100% of the money goes to the cause.
