Covers for Conditions was born out of love for a friend. When our friend Alice was fighting cancer, her lovely long blonde hair started to fall out, and she grew self-conscious — so we started buying her hats and beanies, head covers and scarves, and we watched her perk right up. She wrote us: “Dear Dave, you have no clue what this head cover means to me. In the winter time it’s brutal not to have hair, but it was really tough for me when I had to go out in public and everybody would stare. Thank you so much for caring enough to provide a head cover — and then you provided the most amazing real human hair wig for me, that I wore for 18 months. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You put a smile on my face and my heart.”

When people are going through the storm, the littlest things matter: a head cover for a woman, a man, or a child losing their hair — or a fleece blanket for a child fighting an illness, handpicked for what that child loves. Little Bo loved Batman. He had a hard time going to sleep when his mom and dad weren’t there — but when he covered up with Batman, he knew Batman was wrapping his arms around him, and he would be okay. Every blanket is made by hand and made with love — and yes, we are a Christian organization, and our people pray over every hat and every blanket before it goes out.

The amounts are only suggestions — never a minimum. If you have $5, give $5 — it will be put with somebody else’s spark, and together it gets the job done. Every dollar given here stays in the Covers for Conditions bucket at One Spark Foundation. One Spark has no paid employees — 100% of the money goes to the cause. Today the program provides head covers for women, men, and children losing their hair, and handmade fleece blankets for children fighting illness — each one handpicked for what that child loves, with handwritten kid-to-kid messages. The wigs are real human hair, typically $750–$3,000+ for adults and $175–$400 for children. And yes, we’re a Christian organization: our people pray over every hat and every blanket before it goes out.

It doesn’t pay for any salaries. No paid employees. 100% of the money goes to the cause.
